Masashi Kishimoto, creator of Naruto, is estimated to be the third highest earner for a manga creator in Japan for 2004. Japanese National Tax Administration Agency releases a list of highest tax payers every year.
Rumiko Takahashi, creator of Inu yasha, Ranma 1/2, Maison Ikkoku, etc., paid the most tax at 142,710,000 yen ($1,325,580 USD.)
Gosho Aoyama, creator of Detective Conan, paid 138,310,000 yen ($1,284,218 USD) in taxes.
Masashi Kishimoto, creator of Naruto, paid 112,690,000 yen ($1,046,335 USD) in taxes.
We can estimate how much Masashi Kishimoto made that year by the amount of tax he paid. It is estimated that he made 311,290,000 yen ($2,888,333 USD) in 2004.
That is of course a very rough estimate, because assuming Japan has a complex tax system just like in the US, you can assume that there are alot of tax deductibles that would decrease his taxes paid to the government.

You can definitely expect his income to increase in 2005 as Naruto expand outside of Japan into the US.
Naruto Episode 137 titled The Outlaw Streets: The Shadows of the Fuma Clan is finally subbed by Dattebayo.
